Bill Analysis

HB 2032 would require the statewide health coordinating council to form an advisory committee on health literacy. The advisory committee would have certain membership requirements and develop a long-range plan for increasing health literacy, including studying the economic impact of low health literacy on state health care programs and insurance coverage for residents.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is opposed to HB 2032 because it would violate the principle of limited government. This type of project is more properly within the domain of non-government organizations, the medical community, and private philanthropic organizations rather than the state government.
