Relating to the carrying of handguns by license holders on property owned or leased by a governmental entity.

Bill Analysis

HB 1791 would prohibit a state agency or political subdivision from taking any action that states or implies that a license holder who is carrying a handgun is prohibited from entering or remaining on a premises owned or leased by a governmental entity (unless license holders are otherwise prohibited from carrying a handgun under state law). 

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends supporting HB 1791 because it promotes our principle of individual liberty. This bill would help prevent the wrongful exclusion of a person lawfully carrying a handgun from government property.
