Bill Caption

Relating to the authority of certain local governmental entities to enter into an agreement to create a mutual aid law enforcement task force.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 1789 would remove restrictions for counties, municipalities, and joint airports to create mutual aid law enforcement task forces to cooperate in criminal investigations and law enforcement. Current law requires that the local governments either be neighboring or a contiguous county, and this bill would remove that requirement.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on HB 1789 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
