Bill Analysis

HB 1595 would allow certain utilities that are operating outside of ERCOT to adopt an advanced metering network. HB 1595 would allow for any costs incurred by the deployment of an advanced metering network to be recovered by the utility. This deployment would be subject to PUC rules and regulations, including rules related to customer protections, privacy, ownership, and options given consumers to continue to receive service through a non-advanced meter.
