Relating to the deployment of advanced metering and meter
information networks in certain areas outside of ERCOT.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 1595 would allow certain utilities that are operating outside of ERCOT to adopt an advanced metering network. HB 1595 would allow for any costs incurred by the deployment of an advanced metering network to be recovered by the utility. This deployment would be subject to PUC rules and regulations, including rules related to customer protections, privacy, ownership, and options given consumers to continue to receive service through a non-advanced meter.
Texas Action remains neutral on HB 1595.
