Relating to the intercollegiate athletics fee at Texas Southern University; authorizing the continued imposition of a fee.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Currently, Texas Southern University is one of two public universities that must obtain legislative re-authorization every five years to charge students an intercollegiate athletics fee. HB 1516 would repeal certain provisions relating to prohibiting Texas Southern University from imposing an athletics fee for more than five academic years unless certain conditions are met.
