Relating to training and development activities for persons who may interact with an individual with autism or other pervasive developmental disorder.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 1386 would amend Section 114.013, Human Resources Code, to require Department of Family and Protective Services personnel to participate in training and development activities for those who may interact with an individual with autism. This training would be provided by the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The training is required to be evidenced-based, applicable to certain professional roles, and instructive regarding means of effective communication to persons with limited social or verbal abilities.
HB 1386 has no apparent connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
