Relating to the jurisdiction of certain courts and fees collected by a justice court; increasing a fee.

Bill Analysis

HB 1380 would raise the limit for the amount in controversy for which a county court has concurrent jurisdiction with the justice court from $10,000 to $20,000. The same increase would apply to the amount in controversy for which a justice court has jurisdiction. The bill would also increase the court fees for a justice court from $25 to $50 and dispose of the fee for small claims court.
