Bill Analysis

HB 1273 would prohibit health benefit plans which have given prior authorization for health care services from denying or reducing payment for those services based on medical necessity or appropriateness of care unless the physician or care provider materially misrepresented the proposed health care services. Certain exemptions would apply.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on HB 1273. This prohibition does not rise to a level that is unreasonable or overly-restrictive so as to infringe on our liberty principles.
