Relating to the use of a county early voting polling place by a political subdivision.

Fiscal Notes

Bill Analysis

HB 1048 would require a political subdivision to designate as an early voting polling place for the election an eligible county polling place, and would prohibit any other designation unless each eligible county polling place is designated as an early voting polling place by the political subdivision. In other words, this bill would prohibit a political subdivision from designating an early voting polling place other than the one established by the county.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 1048 for promoting limited government by creating consistency in polling locations which will make the voting process less confusing, as well as increase voter turnout. This would prevent voters from having to travel to two different locations to vote early in all of the races in which they are eligible to participate.
