Bill Analysis

This bill would prohibit, with some exceptions, public employers from deducting union or professional association dues from the paychecks of public employees.

Vote Recommendation Notes

It is not the proper role of government to collect union or professional association dues from public employees and distribute those dues to the respective employee union or professional association. Getting the government out of the business of collecting and distributing union dues limits government and enhances personal responsibility. We support SB 7. We would also support an amendment to remove any exemptions to the prohibition this legislation would implement.
