Bill Caption

Relating to the participation of a county judge in a meeting of a commissioners court conducted by video-conference call.

Fiscal Notes

From the Legislative Budget Board: No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, county judges are required to preside over a public commissioners court meeting.

SB 988 would amend the Local Government Code to allow another officer to preside over the meeting if the county judge is not physically present at the meeting.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This is a procedural bill clarifying how commissioners court public meetings are held via videoconferencing and does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
