Bill Caption
Relating to continuing education requirements for county tax assessor-collectors.
Fiscal Notes
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
Under current law, county tax assessor-collectors are required to fulfill certain continuing education requirements. SB 929 would also require that assessor-collectors who collect property taxes successfully complete at least 40 hours of continuing education courses on the assessment and collection of property taxes not later than one year after the date they first take office.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Because SB 929 is dealing with a profession that is created by and exclusive to government, we do not consider this to be a new state mandated burden as we would if this were a licensed private occupation. In that light, this is a procedural bill which neither uplifts nor offends our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
