Bill Analysis

This is a local bill. Under current law, if a vacancy occurs in the office of director for the Maverick County Hospital District, the remaining directors by a unanimous vote shall appoint a new director for the remainder of the term. SB 881 would change this to be by a majority vote. If the number of directors is reduced to fewer than three, a special election will be called to fill the vacancies. The district court may order an election if the directors fail to call for one.

Vote Recommendation Notes

SB 881 is a local procedural bill which does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
