Bill Caption
Relating to named driver policy disclosure requirements.
Fiscal Notes
From the Legislative Budget Board: no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
SB 878 would amend the Insurance Code to clarify that an automobile agent or insurer, including a county mutual insurance company, must provide a named driver policy disclosure in writing, rather than orally and in writing, to the
applicant or insured before accepting any premium or fee for a named driver policy. Such a disclosure may be acknowledged through an original or electronic signature.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill enhances our free market and limited government principles by slightly decreasing disclosure requirements on automobile insurers and protecting an insurance product which other legislative initiatives are currently working to prohibit. We support SB 878.
