Bill Caption
Relating to an exemption from licensing requirements for physicians associated with certain sports teams.
Fiscal Notes
From the Legislative Budget Board: no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
SB 849 would amend the Occupations Code to exempt college and professional sports team physicians from licensing requirements under certain circumstances. This is a limited exemption so that the physicians of visiting sports teams, who are licenced in their home states, are not breaking Texas law by practicing medicine in this state without a valid license.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill enhances limited government by closing a loophole which could currently be used to prosecute someone on a technicality. We support SB 849.
