Bill Caption

Relating to designating July 7 as Fallen Law Enforcement Officer Day.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, the legislature is authorized to establish days of recognition and ceremony. SB 798 would establish July 7 as Fallen Law Enforcement Officer Day in recognition of the ultimate sacrifice made by Texas law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Honorific bills, wile often noble in purpose, do not impact our liberty principles. For this reason we remain neutral on SB 798.
