Bill Caption

Relating to restrictions on holders of package store permits.

Fiscal Notes

From the Legislative Budget Board: No significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, no person may hold or have interest in more than five alcohol package stores, and if one person or one person and an immediate family member have a majority of the ownership in two or more legal entities holding package store permits, they may consolidate the businesses into a single entity where it may be issued permits for all stores. However, those permits may be transferred to another county. SB 750 would repeal these provisions.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill enhances our free market and limited government principles by repealing burdensome regulations on package store permit holders allowing them to have an interest in more than five stores and transfer permits across counties making it easier to earn a living. We support SB 750.
