Bill Analysis

Under current law, the State Council on Competitive Government exists to encourage competition, innovation, and creativity among service providers to improve the quality of the state's services. SB 706 would amend the Family Code to abolish the State Council on Competitive Government and transfer the functions to the comptroller.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill enhances our limited government principle by creating a more efficient government through the abolishment of the State Council on Competitive Government. There is no need for a board or council if other governmental entities can handle its duties. We support SB 706.
