Bill Caption
Relating to health benefit coverage for prescription drug synchronization.
Bill Analysis
SB 697 would amend the Insurance Code to require a health benefit plan that provides benefits for prescription drugs to prorate any cost-sharing amount charged for a less than 30 day supply.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Though well intentioned, this bill violates our free market and limited government principle by adding a regulation that private insurers prorate a less than 30 day supply of drugs. Such a rule may be beneficial to consumers but it is not the proper role of government to mandate the benefits offered by insurers, therefore we oppose SSB 697.
