Bill Analysis

Under current law, the commissioners of a municipal housing authority may be a tenant of a public housing project or the recipient of housing assistance through a housing choice voucher program. SB 593 would also allow a commissioner to be a recipient of housing assistance through a project-based rental assistance program. This bill would also mandate that these provisions apply to and require at least one commissioner to be a tenant of a public housing project or recipient of housing assistance for a municipality adjacent to the international border that has a population of 600,000 or more.

Vote Recommendation Notes

SB 593 neither uplifts nor offends our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
