Bill Caption

Relating to requiring the disclosure of special course fees at public institutions of higher education.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would compel institutions of higher education to disclose special fees associated with a course in a course catalog, including an online access fee or lab fee.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill, if enacted, would establish much needed transparency in university systems. Compelling university administrators to disclose special fees in course catalogs allows students and parents to make more informed decisions concerning the true cost of higher education, and keeps administrators, and government, accountable. Therefore, we support this bill.
