Relating to restrictions on lobbyist expenditures from certain political contributions.

Bill Analysis
This bill would prohibit a former elected official who takes a job as a lobbyist from knowingly making an expenditure from political contributions they received as an office holder or candidate for two years after the date their last term in office ended.
Vote Recommendation Notes
SB 505 is directed at curbing potential corruption of elected officials who become lobbyists after leaving office. This bill enhances the limited government principle by setting a two year cooling off period before elected officials who become lobbyists may make political contributions using funds they received as an office holder or candidate. This elevates transparency in government and reduces the potential for corruption. We support SB 505.
