Bill Caption
Relating to the creation of an office of workforce development and
analytics in the Department of Family and Protective Services.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
Under current law, there is no designated office to monitor the workforce of the Department of Family and Protective Services. SB 497 would create the Office of Workforce Development and Analytics to collect and review data about workers in the department, create a system for handling employee complaints outside of an employee’s direct chain of command, and manage workforce recruitment.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill would formally create a division within the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and consolidate duties that are currently being handled by other divisions of the department. Given the recent turmoil that DFPS has found itself in and the necessity of collecting information such as this to allow the department to better perform its critical functions, formally creating this office is something that falls within the authority and duty of government. However, it has no direct effect on our principles, therefore we remain neutral on SB 497.
