Bill Caption

Relating to the regulation of the practice of dental hygiene.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, a dentist is forbidden from delegating certain dental services to a hygienist. SB 430 would permit the delegation of certain anesthetic and sedative services to a dental hygienist under specific circumstances.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill upholds the principle of limited government by mildly expanding the duties that a dental hygienist and dentist may perform under existing licensing. For this reason, we support SB 430.
