Bill Analysis

Under current law, there are several requirements and procedures a state agency must follow to purchase information technology under Section 2157.068, Government Code. SB 262 would require that the Department of Information Technology work in cooperation with state agencies to assess the risk of purchasing such commodities as well as monitor and verify the purchase transaction reports submitted by vendors as necessary. In addition, this bill would apply the requirements of Section 2157.068 to automated information technology purchased under Section 2155.504(a), Government Code.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Given the procedural nature of this bill, SB 262 neither uplifts nor offends our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
