Bill Analysis
SB 2240 would require a free-standing emergency medical care facility to post a notice that states either the health benefit plans in which the facility is a participating provider or that the facility is not a participating provider in any network.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill modifies notice requirements by an emergency medical care facility by adding another notice requirement. The legislature should not be mandating such notices at all. These facilities are already restricted as to the patients they can accept and additional requirements represent and unnecessary burden of government regulation. They are only allowed to accept private insurance and therefore should be allowed to operate freely in such a market. Government should remove itself altogether from this industry.
For these reasons, we oppose SB 2240.
