Bill Caption
Relating to the disclosure of records produced in the course of an
investigation related to educator misconduct.
Fiscal Notes
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
SB 2168 would make records of groundless educator misconduct complaints confidential unless the complaint becomes a part of the record
in a contested case.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill advances our individual liberty principle by protecting the privacy of an educator who was falsely accused of misconduct. In an age where we must take educator misconduct seriously, this should not turn into unneeded witch hunts where we create a system where it is easy to disparage someone's name without the proper adjudication. For this reason, we support this bill.
