Bill Analysis
This bill would modify a few procedures related to jury selection including the source of jury selection. This bill would also require commissioners court of a county that have adopted a plan to select jurors, to file their plan and any modifications with the Office of Court Administration of the Texas Judicial System. Under current law, clerks of the court are required to send a copy of the list of non-citizens, and non-residents who are ineligible for jury selection to various agencies that oversee the jury selection process. If this bill passes, the clerk would have to send one list of non-citizens, and an entirely different list of non-residents.
Vote Recommendation Notes
It is well with the proper role of government to maintain and regulate the process for jury selection; however, this bill does not have a measurable impact on our liberty principles. For this reason we shall remain neutral.
