Bill Caption
Relating to the administration of federal funds under the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act.
Bill Analysis
SB 1991 would make procedural changes to the distribution of funding related to the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act primarily to make state distribution of such funds more consistent with federal law.
Vote Recommendation Notes
SB 1991 does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral. However we want to note that these types of programs are contrary to the concept of limited government. It is not the role of government to interfere with, promote, regulate, or otherwise meddle in the housing market. These problems can be better solved through private charity - and absent so much government intervention we would likely have less of a housing problem than we do now. Still, since this bill is merely procedural related to an existing program we remain neutral.
