Bill Analysis

This bill would establish the Office of Inspector General within the Texas Education Agency and would charge the Inspector General with the responsibility of investigating, preventing, and detecting criminal misconduct and wrongdoing and the same for fraud, waste, and abuse in the administration of public education.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This legislation is in alignment with limited government because it seeks to hold public servants accountable and find ways to reduce wasteful or fraudulent use of public funds. For these reasons we support SB 1886.
