Bill Analysis

This bill requires certain information to be recorded when suspending a student; including their race, sex, date of birth, whether the student is in a special education program, the basis for the suspension, the duration of the suspension, and the number of suspension that were inconsistent with the guidelines included in the student code of conduct adopted under the Education Code. This bill would also require the information to be publicly available.

Vote Recommendation Notes

As a matter of public policy this seems entirely unnecessary; however, It is within the authority of the legislature to require this information be collected and reported, therefore we remain neutral as it has no direct connection to our liberty principles.
