Bill Analysis

SB 1760 would amend the Alcoholic Beverage Code to allow the holder of a distiller’s and rectifier’s permit or an agent or employee of the permit holder to conduct distilled spirits samplings and product tasting on the premises of the holder of a package store permit, mixed beverage permit, or private club registration permit.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill enhances our free market and limited government principles by decreasing regulation on distiller’s and rectifier’s permit holders allowing product tastings on certain premises. We support SB 1760 but recommend it be amended to further deregulate this heavily regulated industry and allow it to operate more fully on free market principles. Nonetheless, we support SB 1760 regardless of whether such an amendment is adopted.
