Bill Analysis
SB 1698 would amend the Government Code to require the Texas Veterans Commission to submit a report to the governor, lieutenant governor, and legislature on women veterans which identifies problems they face and policy proposals to address those problems. Also, the women veterans coordinator would conduct a community outreach campaign to provide increase awareness of benefits and services available to women veterans.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Texas Veterans Commission reporting requirements and the conducting of a campaign within existing resources neither uplifts or offends our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral. However we do note that such a campaign is something that can be handled by current non-profit and private groups and does not need to involve state government.
