Bill Caption
Relating to a study on participation of public schools in a
universal lunch program offered through the United States
Department of Agriculture.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
This bill would require a study on the costs of a Universal school lunch program to school districts to be done. Each odd-numbered year, the bill would require the TEA to
notify eligible districts by May 1 and would require districts and schools notified to perform an
analysis and report on that analysis and certain details by November 15.
Vote Recommendation Notes
While we remain neutral because the study itself does not offend our liberty principles, we note that future policy proposals based on the results of such a study may earn our opposition if they propose to increase the scope and cost of these programs.
