Bill Caption
Relating to a task force of border
health officials.
Fiscal Notes
From the LBB: No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
This bill would create a task force of border health officials to advise the commissioner of HHSC on major issues affecting border region residents’ health and raising public awareness of those issues. The task force would have a sunset date of September 1, 2029.
Vote Recommendation Notes
While this bill does not expressly infringe on our liberty principles we are wary of what future big-government legislation may be proposed based on recommendations made by the proposed task force. One major improvement to this legislation would be to require the task force, when considering problems with access to quality healthcare services, to consider how government regulations including insurance mandates, occupational licensure, and scope of practice laws negatively impact access.
