by certain health care facilities for abortion
complications; authorizing a civil penalty.
Fiscal Notes
From the LBB: No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
This bill would require a facility that performs abortions to submit to the Department of State Health Services a quarterly report on abortion complications diagnosed and treated at the facility. The department would be required to annually publish a report on the statewide occurrence of abortion complications as reported by the facilities on its website. A facility that violates the section would be subject to a civil penalty of $500 for each violation, and three violations would constitute cause for revocation of a facility’s license.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill deals with what we regard primarily as a social issue. Texas Action does not make vote recommendations on social issues, therefore we remain neutral.
