Bill Caption

Relating to the authority of certain ex officio members of the board of directors of a tax increment financing reinvestment zone to elect not to serve on the board.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, state senators and state representatives are ex officio board members of their local tax increment reinvestment zones (if there is one in their district). SB 1465 would require the board of directors of a tax increment reinvestment zone to present a notice to each member of the senate and house who is an ex officio member of the zone’s board. This notice would inform the state senator or state representative of their membership on the board. The senator or representative may elect to not serve on the board and may choose to designate or not designate another individual to serve in their place.

Vote Recommendation Notes

SB 1465 does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
