No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1437 amends Transportation Code by prohibiting a toll project entity from sending an invoice or notice of unpaid tolls to the registered owner of the vehicle soliciting payment unless they have first determined if the owner has an electronic transponder and attempted to bill that account. This bill would also specify the information requires on a notice or invoice.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill would help reduce the at sometimes predatory billing practice of tolling entities that results in greater burdens for users instead of accurate and easy billing. For this reason, we support SB 1437.
