Bill Caption
Relating to a requirement that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality provide an expedited procedure for acting on certain applications for an amendment to a water right by certain applicants that use desalinated seawater.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
SB 1430 would require the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to expedite the consideration of an application for an amended water right if the applicant is using desalinated seawater, provided that the amendment proposes additional diversion points and does not increase the amount of desalinated seawater used by the applicant.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Expediting applications benefits limited government by reducing the burden of going through the application process for an amended water right. We support this legislation.
