Bill Caption

Relating to the allocation categories for state funding of public transportation.

Bill Analysis

Current law states that the Texas Transportation Commission must allocate funding for public transportation on a biennial basis to urban, urbanized, and rural areas under an predetermined formula program.

Senate Bill 1334 would amend current Transportation Code by striking the terms urban, urbanized, and rural and replacing them with large urbanized, small urbanized and nonurbanized.

Furthermore, the bill would define large urbanized as an urbanized area with a population greater than 200,000 and small urbanized as an urbanized area with a population less than 200,000.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Senate Bill 1334 neither uplifts nor offends our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
