Bill Caption

Relating to an alert for a missing senior citizen or person with Alzheimer’s disease.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law there is a “silver alert” for missing senior citizens. The Texas Department of Transportation cooperates with various law enforcement agencies throughout the state, and with certain media outlets to inform law enforcement and the public in cases where an elderly person has gone missing. If this bill passes, the silver alert would be used also in connection with individuals who have Alzheimer’s disease and have been confirmed to have gone missing. If the individual has Alzheimer's disease, a silver alert may be issued regardless of their status as a senior citizen.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill does not appear to have an impact on our liberty principles, therefore we will remain neutral.
