Bill Analysis

SB 1152 would amend the Education Code to require a school district to excuse a student who is 17 years of age or older from school to pursue enlistment in a branch of the U.S. armed forces or Texas National Guard for no more than four days.

This bill enhances our individual liberty and personal responsibility principles by allowing an individual to make a life and career advancing decision without suffering unnecessary adverse academic consequences. We support SB 1152.
