Bill Caption
Relating to abolishing certain county boards of education, boards of county school trustees, and offices of county school superintendent.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
SB 1122 would abolish the county board of education, board of county school trustees, and office of county school superintendent in Dallas County unless the continuation of these entities is approved by a majority of voters in an election held on the uniform election day in November, 2017. A dissolution committee would be formed primarily to administrate the handling of the finances related to those organizations.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill supports the principle of limited government and individual liberty by dissolving the board of education, school trustees, and school superintendent in Dallas County and phasing out related taxes, unless confirmed by poplar vote. For this reason, we support SB 1122.
