Bill Analysis

SB 1088 would amend the Occupations Code to allow academic credit hours to go toward the hours of instruction requirement for a cosmetology operator license. Also, a private beauty culture school or vocational cosmetology program in a public school would be able to administer a practical examination.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill enhances our free market and limited government principles by decreasing regulation on how to fulfill hours of instruction and where to take a practical exam for a cosmetology operator license, making it easier to earn a living. We support SB 1088.
