Bill Caption
Relating to the offense of leaving a motor vehicle unattended.
Bill Analysis
Under current law, it is illegal to leave a vehicle unattended without first stopping the engine, locking the ignition, removing the key, putting it in park, and turning the wheels away from the road (if standing on a grade). SB 1078 would reduce these requirements to just putting the vehicle in park and turning the wheels away from the road.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill supports the principles of limited government and personal responsibility by reducing the regulations on unattended cars. For this reason, we support SB 1078.
