Bill Analysis

This bill would prohibit a hospital administrator from authorizing an anatomical gift from a decedent's body. The bill would also prohibit a procurement organization or a person associated with a hospital from petitioning to become a decedent's guardian in order to be authorized to make an anatomical gift of the decedent's body or part.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill is in keeping with the principle of individual liberty, since it prohibits a hospital administrator from making an anatomical gift of the decedent's body without their prior consent or the prior consent of a family member with legal authority to make such a decision. For this reason we support this legislation.
