Bill Analysis

HB 92 would add the spouse of a veteran with a disability, who has a total disability rating based either on having a service-connected disability rating of 100% or on individual unemployability, to individuals qualified for veteran's employment preference. The spouse would be placed third on the order of priority for applications.

Vote Recommendation Notes

We recognize the needs of disabled veterans and spouses; however, HB 92 violates our free market principles by creating a protected class that is given an advantage over other applicants for the same job opening. For these reasons, we oppose this bill.
