Bill Caption

Relating to prohibiting certain telemarketing calls by a credit access business.

Fiscal Notes

From the Legislative Budget Board: no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 877 would amend the Finance Code to add that a credit access business or representative may not make a telemarketing call to a consumer whose name and telephone are on the Texas no-call list. A call may be made if the individual was a party to the contract with the business either currently or in the prior year.

Vote Recommendation Notes

No one likes to receive telemarketing calls, however it is not within the proper role of a limited government to tell a business who they may or may not call. For this reason we oppose HB 877.
