Bill Caption

Relating to social work services in public schools.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 743 would define the term "social work services" in the context of working in a school district. The bill would permit social workers to provide social work services to students and families in a school or district, and would require social workers to collaborate with administrators to enhance students' learning environments.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill does not require schools to hire social workers, which would earn an oppose if it did. While we are unconvinced that having social workers in schools is a necessary or even beneficial thing, the provisions of this bill neither uplift nor offend our liberty principles and we remain neutral.
