Bill Analysis

This bill codifies specific fees for applicants for initial licenses and annual license fees to operate a childcare facility or a child placing agency. This is a change from current law that states that the executive commissioner sets the licensing fees. The bill also changes the code to reflect that the license does not expire and would get rid of renewal requirements.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill is in keeping with limited government because it removes the regulatory burden of license renewal. Codifying the fees is probably a good thing as well because it prevents fees from being raised without legislative approval. We support HB 740.
